LK Skincare is born of the passion and experience of mother-in-law, daughter-in-law team Leila and Kate, and is lovingly produced in Nottingham, England. Leila trained at Beauty International over 10 years ago. Her first enterprise was in the The Grosvenor Pulford Hotel in Chester, England. Shortly after Leila took over the Old Post Office across the road from the hotel and started Aura Beauty Spa, which she ran for 10 years.
Leila’s Lebanese father is a doctor and her Welsh / Irish mother was a nurse, so Leila had an early introduction both to medicinal practices and to taking care of one’s body and mind. Leila moved to Lebanon just 3 months after she was born as her father set up a clinic there.
Shortly thereafter war broke out and the family moved to Warri in Nigeria where they set up a clinic. Leila lived there until she was 8 years old before returning to Cheshire in the UK to start school. The family travelled back to Nigeria for every school holiday, and that life-long connection with Nigeria and Africa is how Leila discovered the key ingredients to the LK Skincare signature products.
In 2007 Leila moved to Dubai, and it was at this point that she teamed up with Kate and the LK Skincare enterprise began. The first product, formulated in Dubai, was the LK DAY & NIGHT CREAM. Kate resided in the UK bridging the businesses needs between sourcing in Africa and India, the development in Dubai and the ordering and distribution carried out in the UK.
Fed up with spending a small fortune on face creams, lotion and potions that were not doing the job, our founders Leila and Kate decided to take matters into their own hands.
When Leila was living in Dubai and pregnant with her twins, her skin was so dry, tired looking and had lost a lot of its glow and plumpness. Also living in a hot climate with the heat and the effects of the sun causing sun damage and pigmentation Leila needed something that would soak in immediately to hydrate and plump up her skin.
Unable to find anything that was reasonably priced and not being able to afford the top brand prices Leila wanted to create a cream that was affordable and contained the purest ingredients and the maximum strengths without breaking the bank. With the UK outdoor life either horse riding or walking the dogs both Leila and Kate found they also needed something that would hydrate their skin and prevent dry ageing and lines. The LK Day & Night Cream was conceived.
Since Leila has been back in the UK, she has added two more essential products – a luxurious cleansing gel that will remove even the most stubborn waterproof mascara without drying out the skin and a super hydrating hand cream that smells divine due to the French Lavender and Egyptian Geranium.
